Trinidade Island UFO - January 16, 1958

Depiction of the Trinidade sighting

From the deck of a Brazilian Navy ship, while photographing the ship's launch, Almiro Barauna snapped four pictures of this UFO. It was just after noon as the ship was casting out to sea, Vierira Filho saw what he thought was "a large seagull", and pointed it out to the Captain. The Captain anxiously started shouting "Flying Saucer!" Mr. Barauna immediately started taking pictures of the UFO. The craft shifted behind Mt. Desegado, reappeared and flew away. Barauna was so shaken by the incident that he had to wait an hour to calm down

before developing the photographs. Using an improvised darkroom, Barauna processed the film. Two of the photographs missed the UFO altogether, but the other four were all too telling. The crew verified that the photos were legitimate and even the president of Brazil, Sr. Juselino Kubitschek, personally vouched for their authenticity after they were analyzed by the Brazilian Navy.
