UFO Encounter - Flatwoods, West Virginia

Go Back

A bizarre encounter happened at Flatwoods, West Virginia on September 12, 1952. Several boys were outside and saw a meteor pass overhead. When they decided to investigate, Mrs. Kathleen Hill, her sons and a seventeen-year-old National Guardsman named Gene Lemon also joined in the effort. When they arrived at the site of impact, they saw a large globe. It was "as big as a house". They attempted to move closer to the strange object. When they shined their flashlights into the trees, they saw a huge monstrous figure between 10-15 feet tall. It had glowing orange eyes and it was hovering a few feet off of the ground. It floated closer to them which frightened them away. The entire group ran down the hillside in a desperate attempt to flee the creature.

A search party was formed on the next day but no creature was found in the area. There were, however, signs that something had occurred there. There were

marks on the ground as evidence of the struggle to get away from the hideous entity. There was flattened grass where the globe was said to have been and the soil had a strange odor close to the ground.
