An extreme case of unusual events occurred near Cisco Grove, California on September 4, 1964. Three friends were bow hunting in the mountains in the late afternoon and split up to see if they could find game easier. While being alone, one of the men saw a UFO fly across the sky at dusk. He climbed about 12 feet up a tree as he witnessed three mysterious figures approach. Two of them were wearing uniforms made of some kind of silvery-gray material while the third looked like a robot.

The first two beings tried to climb the tree but could not accomplish the task. The robot started emitting smoke from its mouth in an attempt to gas the helpless man in the tree. He climbed a bit higher to avoid the gas. He began setting torn pieces of clothing on fire and throwing them down at the strange beings. The robot continued to release gas from its mouth and the hunter began to lose consciousness for seconds at a time. He shot his arrows at the robot but they ricocheted off of the metallic body. After being in the tree for the entire night, at dawn, another robot appeared and more gas was released causing the man to completely lose consciousness.

After he woke up, his attackers were gone. He found the other two hunters and they told him they saw the UFO flying away.
